Finding Dawn - What made the missing women of the downtown east side nameless and faceless?

Many people believe that a woman is entirely responsible for being a prostitute or street person (despite her situation and circumstances.) The public might believe that these women are unimportant, perhaps that they don't even matter.

How did Dawn suffer from a loss of identity and how did this affect her?

Dawn was taken from her home and stripped of her culture and daily routine. She wasn't able to discover herself before she was uprooted and place in an unfamiliar environment. Even after her death, Dawn became another statistic and her disappearance mattered to very few people. She was not thought of as a human being, but as a number.
